Umbra + Vévaki at Gaukurinn

We had a beautiful time with our friends Vévaki last Sunday at Gaukurinn, wonderful turnout and we got to try out some new original tunes that we are very excited about, using old norse texts and using our tool box of synths, pedals and effects . Can’t wait to share this music with more of you.

New material in the pipes

We have been using the dark months to work on some fun new material and we are planning a special event with dear friends early summer in Reykjavík (more soon)

Dankjevel

We had a brilliant time in NL last week, made a lot of new friends during our concerts and during our Workshop in Delft, and even met one of our musical heroes (see photo 🥰).

Looking forward to some creative work in the coming weeks.

Bless bless 2022

Grateful, excited and happy, we say goodbye to 2022.

This was the year we released of our fourth album: Bjargrúnir - which contains Icelandic folk songs in our own arrangements. Our folk song heritage is really a treasure - but we chose to lend a voice to the Icelandic women of past centuries and it was easy for us to mark the common theme of all the songs on the album: resilience.

Like our foremothers, we have been blessed to be able to draw on the resilience of our musical journey - we have woven it into our artistic creation and used its power during the travels of the last year, which were not few.

We kindly thank for all the good the reception of our music. In the new year, we look forward to continuing to create together and share with you, follow new paths and explore unknown lands, both musically and geographically 2023 is bound to be good!
